Les Rosbifs

Adam Smith, Andy Kelly and other stories

Posted by gavstone on May 28, 2009

It’s half-term in the real world, which should mean I get more time than usual to write on the blog. Not so. Gillingham play-off victories, sick babies and other such maladies have limited what I have put up on the blog recently, but a lot has been going on behind the scenes.

A few tales for you:

Adam Smith: Contact has been made with the young Anglo-Spaniard and an interview is being lined up over the next few weeks. He is alive and well, which you will find out about in due course.

Andy Kelly: He’s down on Les Rosbifs list as playing for Landskrona in the Swedish Superettan. Kurt Hultqvist, the Press manager of the club, has informed me though that Andy has left the club and is back living just outside Middlesbrough. As to whether he is going to continue playing, or indeed move abroad again, is unknown. So, Andy, if you’re reading – or if anyone knows Andy – please drop me a line and let me know what you’re up to.

Jamie Phoenix: Another of those ‘Watch This Space’ types. No more word has come from my sources, although I have a rather meaty source lined up, thanks to a good friend who works with someone very much in the know. There’s a story and a half here, as well as a decent footballer.

Daniel Hammond: Many thanks to ‘Steve’ over on the SI Games community forums, for putting me in touch with his friend, who happens to be the elusive Daniel Hammond of Woodlands Wellington, Singapore. An interview is currently in the pipeline and will hopefully be online in the next week or two.

Austin Aztex: I have to admit that the club, specifically Kyle Dalton, are being very patient with me, considering the amount of questions I have asked him and his club. Certainly one of the most helpful people I have come across on this blog.

George Saunders: His page is going to be updated in the next few days, thanks to some extra information supplied by the excellent Clive Jagger, an agent working in Spain. Clive has given me a lot of information on George, and is helping me out on another couple of players too. I will also be running a feature on Clive and the life of being an agent overseas. Certainly not to be missed!

So yes, a lot of spaces to watch but plenty to keep me busy whilst many of the European seasons are at an end. Again, if you know of any English footballer playing overseas, or can give me any information on any others, please contact me using the option on the left.
